GUARDA RIOS
2024 – 2025
Collaborating since 2024 with Guarda Rios, a research and creative collective focused on riverside areas.
Guarda Rios promote a culture of water and a connection to rivers of Portugal, through participatory artistic initiatives and processes of co-learning, fellowship, and celebration.
Given the growing desertification of the region and water scarcity, we believe it is crucial to look at rivers and their ecosystems, as well as the ancestral cultures that depend on them.
Since 2019, they have been mapping issues related to water management and human impact on river ecosystems, sharing our findings at events, exhibitions, and public activities across a wide range of geographies—from the interior to the coast, from north to south, and from rural areas to urban centers.
I have been developing creation, research and participatory workshops using textiles as medium and reflecting about the connection about textiles, nature and river waters.
